Owokoniran Memorial Hospital (OMH) has consistently been providing healthcare of international standards to the people of Nigeria. Established in 1st December 1989 by Dr. Gbadebo-Saba A.O. in a rented apartment with 6 beds, 2 experienced auxiliary nurses, 5 Registered Nurses and a cleaner. Partitioning of sitting room and other available spaces was done to accommodate all necessary amenities to start off with. Digging of a well in a rented apartment for steady supply of water was done likewise buying of a YAMAHA GENERATOR 3.5KVA when light started becoming erratic. Purchasing of drugs and equipment were done personally by Dr Gbadebo-Saba himself with his jalopy car in Lagos and occasionally being assisted by his wife.
Most facilities were available, therefore patients need not to purchase any material and drugs and moderate bills were accorded. Emphasis on funds weren’t really made before commencement of treatment. This enticed patients and increased the influx of patients.
Humility, transparency and honesty exhibited by Dr. Gbadebo-Saba also contributed immensely to the patients’ influx that lead to the expansion of the Hospital to other available flats in the building before the purchase of a Toyota litace bus for multipurpose functions. Erection of a permanent structure with all necessary amenities on an acquired land was then pursued to accommodate the practice.
Owokoniran Memorial Hospital is currently one of the largest private healthcare service provider in Sagamu, Ogun State, Nigeria with more than 50 staff strength
